Creating an exterior
Fit a capture dome around your building in the plugin, export, and visitors orbit it in 3D, or walk around it on foot with Walkable.
An exterior is a building on its site that visitors orbit in 3D, or walk around on foot. You fit a capture dome around it in the plugin, export, and the tour opens as an orbit. With Walkable, visitors walk around it from spots on the ground instead.
Capture dome
Switch to the Exterior tab. Select your building (or nothing, to fit everything visible) and click Create Capture Dome. Nukxon fits a ring of capture cameras around it.
| Shape | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Half Dome | The default. Anything about as wide as it is tall. |
| Cylinder | Towers and anything much taller than it is wide: rings of cameras level with the facade. |
| Box | Rectangular buildings: every facade shot square-on. Rotate the box to line it up. |
Switch shapes anytime: Nukxon fits the new shape to your building again.
Type the size and position, or use the arrows; a value applies when you press Enter or click away. The number of cameras shows next to the section title. Tick Show capture cameras to see every camera in your viewport.
What ends up in the tour
The tour keeps what the capture shape surrounds: your building and the ground around it, up to the edge of the shape. Anything beyond the edge, like distant trees, hills or the buildings next door, is left out, and the sky is masked out automatically.
- Want more of the garden or the street? Make the shape bigger.
- Something you don't want in it, like a car parked in front? Hide it before you export: the cameras see everything that renders.
Sizing the shape
Create Capture Dome fits the shape snugly to your selection. Keep it snug: when you export, Nukxon moves the cameras further out on its own (1.5× on a half dome, 1.2× on a cylinder or box), so the whole building fits in every view.
- A bigger shape brings more of the site into the tour, and more cameras: the count grows with the size.
- A smaller shape means fewer cameras, but whatever sits outside it is cut, so never shrink it into the building.
Then export and upload.
Walkable
To let visitors walk around the building on foot, switch the Exterior tab from Orbit to Walkable.
- Place outside hotspots on the ground around the building, where a visitor would stand: the path, the garden, the street. Each one is a spot visitors walk to and look around from.
- Keep them a few steps apart, like the hotspots of an interior, so visitors can walk from one to the next. You need at least two, and up to 100.
- Turn on the ring cameras to see the cameras around each hotspot in your viewport.
Then export and upload, the same way as an orbit.
Orbit
An exterior opens straight in 3D: your building on its site, as a Gaussian splat. Drag to orbit, scroll or pinch to zoom, and right-drag (two fingers on touch) to move. The view stays above the ground.
Orbit or walk? An orbit shows your building from outside and above. A Walkable exterior puts visitors on the ground around it. To walk around inside, export the rooms as an interior.
Walk around it
A Walkable exterior opens on the ground at one of your outside hotspots. Drag to look around, and click where you want to go to walk to the nearest spot, just like an interior.
